  1. How do I go about booking my first lesson?
You can contact us via email having filled in the online application form, or by calling our booking line and by speaking to one of our staff who will then advise you by either means as to the time slots available for your chosen instrument. Once you have decided on a particular time, we will require a securing deposit of £20.00, to be paid either by cash or cheque. For more details please contact us on 020 8777 0665.

  2. What if I do not own an instrument?
Not problem! We have instruments available for use for the first lesson after which your teacher will advise you on the most suitable instrument you will need to buy.

  3. What happens if I need to cancel a lesson?
Not a problem. Provided that a minimum of 48 hours notice is given, we will defer your lesson booked, otherwise your lesson will be considered forfeit if a cancellation is made outside of the minimum notice period.

  4. What happens if I have paid for my lessons, but am unable to continue?
Unfortunately, refunds are not given on lessons that have been paid for, however, should you need to cancel your lessons, you need to give us minimum 5 weeks (lessons) notice.

  5. Can I purchase lessons as a GIFT?
Yes, you can purchase gift vouchers for either four or six lessons. All vouchers are produced 'in-house' and can be tailored to incorporate any personal messages that you desire. Gift Vouchers are valid for 6 months after the date of purchase and cannot be exchanged for cash. Please contact us for more details and prices.

  6. Can parents sit in on their child's lessons?
Parents are more than welcome to sit in on their child's first lesson. It is found that older children tend to progress quicker if their parents are not in attendance. It is standard procedure for West Wickham Music School that all of our teachers are checked and cleared through the 'Police Check' data protection register, a system that is used by most schools and colleges.

  7. How old do I have to be to take lessons?
There is no age limit. Children as young as 4 can start learning an instrument. We do recommend them to start by learning the piano or keyboard first switching to a different instrument of their choice later on. For children aged 3-5 years old we have a special and teaching scheme called "Parent and child teaching programme" where one of the parents (mother or indeed father) has a one hour lesson shared with their child in which they both learn how to play the chosen instrument. This has proved to be very popular and very successful.
Adults and retired people are very welcomed! Almost half of our students are adults.

  8. Can I have a lesson with a friend / member of my family?
No, except if you are taking part in the "Parent -child teaching program". Through our experience we found that shared lessons do not work as every individual has special needs so we give each student undivided attention during their lesson. Thus enabling them to progress much faster.

  9. Can I play whatever music I want to?
Absolutely! You tell us about the styles of music, artists or bands that have fuelled your passion and we will tailor the lessons to incorporate this.

  10. Where is the school and how do I find you?
West Wickham Music Tuition is located in SE London, in the London Borough of Bromley, approx. 2 miles from Croydon and Bromley. Please see the map.

  11. Do I have parking facilities?
Yes, exactly in front of us there is a Car Park (20p/hour).

  12. Where can I wait while my child has his/her music lesson?
We have a small waiting area for 2-3 people but you have plenty of things to do in West Wickham. Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer, Library, Swimming Pool are all within five minutes walking distance.
